About Greg
The Greg Wohrle Foundation was founded in memory of Greg Wohrle. On January 9th, 2006, Greg Wohrle, father of sons Justin, then 2 ½ years old, and A.J., three months old, and husband to Barbra, passed away at the age of 33 after 8 years of heroically facing life with brain cancer. From the time Greg was diagnosed in 1998, he wholeheartedly embraced his life with brain cancer and lived life to the fullest. Greg was filled with light and love. He was fun, thoughtful, strong, deep, and spiritual; and he had a special way of touching everyone’s hearts. No matter where you were or what you were doing, if Greg was with you, you were having a great time.
Greg was an outstanding athlete. He wrestled, played baseball, basketball and football. Shortly after graduating from Fort Lauderdale’s Pine Crest School in 1990, Greg was enshrined in the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Within months of his passing, friends and family raised funds to dedicate a newly built locker room, for varsity athletes, in Greg’s name. His jersey was officially retired and a plaque bearing his name and the words “Play like a Champion Today” was unveiled. The student athletes now touch that plaque on their way out of the locker room each time they take the field. |
Love Fest 2012
The 7th Annual Greg Wohrle Feel the Love Fest will be on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Please come out and join us from 11-4 at Tradewinds Park. For those of you who have joined us in the past, thank you so much for your support. We are also so grateful for those who couldn't attend last year, but who still made a donation to help us fight brain cancer. Once again we will be assisting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program now located at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, as well as the Florida Brain Tumor Association, and especially families in need of support services.
